Conference - Cultural Places for Art, Soul, and Senses
Thursday, September 18th
to Friday, September 19th
Cultural meeting places such as the Kunsthaus, the Sensory Park, and the Garden of Silence were able to emerge with the opening of the psychiatric facility in the 1990s on the Alexianer grounds. Numerous exhibitions, conferences, workshops, concerts, readings, and activities brought many professionals, visitors, and families to the Alexianer Campus. A lively exchange and regional and international networking in the field of Outsider Art developed.
The Sensory Park was created on the clinic grounds based on the ideas of Hugo Kückelhaus: an integrative space with 13 experiential fields, where relaxation, encounters, therapy, as well as music, theater, and summer festivals can be experienced. Another park, the Garden of Silence, encourages meditative immersion in the thoughtfully designed landscape architecture.
In September 2025, we would like to invite you again to a conference to reflect on the current status of the topic "Art and Psychiatry": What goals have been achieved, which ideas have been abandoned and which visions are being formulated?
After over 30 years of leading the Kunsthaus, Lisa Inckmann invites you to a closing meeting at the Kunsthaus: We are creating a platform for many of the supporters of the Outsider Art scene to express themselves with various creative contributions and formats.
Together we began, and together we go. After a long collaboration, landscape planner Ilse Copak (Sensory Park, Garden of Silence, etc.) and Thomas Schwarm (Dipl. Art Therapist / Studio) are concluding their long-term partnership.
We offer a two-day platform to continue promoting exchange.
