"Paper learns to fly"
7th July to 22nd September 2019
Artist: Unart e.V.
At Unart e.V., mentally ill children, adolescents and adults meet with professional artists. The art project, which was initiated in 1984 at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, has a model-like character to this day: acting and experimenting in joint atelier work, a wide variety of materials and techniques are used, from classical to "unexplored". The tension between artistic methods and therapeutic approaches gives many new results.
The exhibition "Paper learns to fly" shows works that have been developed in the study of the material paper, ranging from watercolors, to self-made and shaped paper, to flying objects of all sizes - to be seen and heard also become lampshades and book objects, paper music and three-dimensional objects where paper has been stabilized and transformed by kinking and folding.
Unart works in cooperation with the LVR Klinikum Essen, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, with the Prof. Eggers Foundation and the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Helios Klinikum Velbert.
