27th Annual and Sales Exhibition

October 5, 2025 – January 25, 2026
Opening: Sunday, October 5 at 3 PM

Starting on October 5, a colorful variety of contemporary art will once again fill the large exhibition hall at Kunsthaus Kannen. From collages and assemblages to classical painting and photography, the works offer exciting new perspectives on the world and impress with a wide range of artistic techniques. More than 200 current works – paintings and objects – by over 40 artists will be on display. These are works by artists with psychiatric experience. This year, once again, pieces by artists from Kunsthaus Kannen are shown alongside those by external artists. Visitors can expect a diverse and fascinating exhibition.

You can lose yourself in the fantastic worlds meticulously created by Liliana Shpigalter and Stefan Tiersch. Stefan Tiersch draws and paints intricate structures with fine lines, in which one can repeatedly discover fairy-tale plants, animals, and mythical creatures. New to the exhibition is Zoe-Aliha Tosun, whose works impress with an unusual cast of figures and surreal elements. The young artist Caroline Rott, also known as Caro, lives up to her name by dividing the paper and the subject she wants to draw into many small squares and larger color fields. At the center of her pictures are often women who stand out powerfully from their vibrant surroundings. Markus Meurer takes us into a dystopian world ruled by ghostly motorcyclists and monstrous insects through his elaborate wire sculptures.

Artists from Kunsthaus Kannen, Erika Godl and Nicole Szlachetka, captivate with their colorfully glazed ceramic works. Szlachetka works with irony and humor, contributing expressive human heads and imaginative hybrid creatures to the exhibition. Godl’s works, on the other hand, address the flora and fauna of Namibia from her own perspective. Also featured are abstract artists such as Alfred Olschewski and Michael Deppe. Olschewski's works are color fields that, through the artist's skilled and structured combinations, develop an unexpected visual impact and, like Deppe’s pieces, draw the eye with their own luminous color power.

Since 1996, current works of Outsider Art have been presented and offered for sale each year. Once again this year, the circle of participating artists has been expanded through an open call, allowing their works to be introduced to a broader audience.

The diverse selection of contemporary art includes expressionistic, colorful paintings, watercolors, drawings, and photographs. Assemblages and objects made from various materials such as wood, wire, or ceramics further enrich this multifaceted collection.
