Alles aus Erde, Lehm und Ton (everything from ground, loam and clay)

24,000 years ago, our ancestors not only manufactured jar ceramics, but also small figurines out of decalcified loam, such as the Venus Dolni Vestonice, which was found with some animal sculptures in the Czech Republic. Hardened by fire, loam and clay are the oldest raw materials in history.

The exhibition presents a variety of contemporary artistic ceramics:

The heads of Nicole Szlachetka show literally, sensitively and humorously what's going on in our heads.
The small workpieces of an artist look like precious living fragments and convey the impression of the earthly in a very sensual way.
Paul Berger forms stereotypical figures in series, which are spread out over an open relief in the plane.
Helmut Licznierski divides and layers clay into mysterious unstable towers. Colored, they appear in their inflexible elegance yet quite abstract.
Hubertus Roerkohl piles the material into a vessel and places a ball on top. The result is a triumphant object: his chatoyant "Pokal" ("cup") in the style of a trophy.
