Interrupted artistic careers

The Exhibition Painting + 5 Life Histories showcases paintings by four male artists and one female artist who all began their artistic careers with Studies in Art. However during their studies they all suffered mental breakdowns followed by hospitalisation and therapy. Three of the artists, Scholz, Limper and Seibold successfully completed their courses at The Academy of Arts. All of the artists t pursued their artistic career after their studies. In spite of their relapses, they were able to enhance and develop their artistic skills. The paintings in the exhibition include pictures of landscapes, portraits and figurative motifs. Traces of their personal life histories are partly revealed in the pictures.
