Duration: 9th February untill 04th May 2014
Opening: Sunday, 9th February, 15.00
Introduction: Dr. Thomas Röske, Director of the Prinzhorn Collection, Heidelberg
In cooperation with: Friedenstein Gotha Castle Foundation
The first exhibition of 2014 is dedicated to the tricky, yet talented Erich Spießbach. This exhibition presents the artist from many perspectives. The painter, drawer, archeologist and essayist were prominent during his life and for his role. His work in Münster is particularly remarkable. As a staff member at the State Museum for ancient and early research, he revealed his great talent and his enthusiasm. However, he always had conflicts with the institution and with his superiors. His respect deficiency brought him troubles, and eventually under psychiatric treatment. In this exhibition are to be seen the pencil and the pen and ink drawing, auto portraits, placards and satire drawings, which present a man who drove the perfection into its outmost.
The exhibition is an acquisition of the admired same-named exhibition from the Friedenstein Gotha Castle Foundation.
